Assessments
Focused assessment
A bounded investigation with findings, explicit uncertainties, and a recommendation. The decision record remains useful when your team carries out the next step itself.
THE SITUATION
When this is useful
A consequential investment, release, recurring failure, or architecture question where more evidence would improve the decision.
THE RESULT
What you leave with
A decision your team can explain, with the evidence, alternatives, and next action attached.
What the work includes
- An agreed question and a review of representative cases and constraints.
- Evidence-linked findings, competing explanations, and the limits of the investigation.
- A decision memo with prioritized interventions or a bounded experiment recommendation.
Scope boundaries
- A production implementation or comprehensive organizational audit.
- Certification of every possible system behavior or a guaranteed business result.
What you contribute
- A decision owner and access to relevant people and representative work.
- Available evidence, operating constraints, and the context needed to interpret them.
How we assess completion
Your team can distinguish findings from hypotheses, explain the recommended next step, and identify what could change the decision.
AGREEING THE WORK
Clear before we start.
What determines the fee
The question, scope, relevant system paths, available evidence, access requirements, and depth of implementation or review. Fees are quoted in USD. Project totals and monthly advisory fees are agreed for the scope and capacity required.
What we agree before starting
The deliverables, acceptance criteria, responsibilities, fee and currency, schedule, payment terms, and treatment of any third-party costs. These are agreed for your engagement.
When the work changes
New findings may change the useful next step. We review the effect on scope, fee, and timing together before committing to additional work.
